OUR TOP TIPS FOR AVOIDING PANTRY MOTHS

I think that I can safely speak for everyone when I say that if there is one thing you do not want in your pantry, it is moths! Pantry moths are a horrible but common pest that can really infest a pantry and cause a lot of problems for an unassuming homeowner.

We never mean for them to go unnoticed, but sometimes they creep up on us and set up camp before we can do anything about it!

Here at
Holloway Carpet Cleaning & Pest Control, our pest control  in Toowoomba deals with a number of different species, and pantry moths is definitely a problem that we have seen many times before. Before you get in touch with us, here are some tips for how to try to get rid of pesky pantry moths.

CLEAN OUT YOUR PANTRY

The first step anyone with a moth problem should take is to fully and thoroughly clean out the pantry space to start from fresh. Just getting rid of infested food items isn’t going to be enough, you will need to get rid of anything that might have been opened, along with an extensive scrubbing and washing of all shelves. Make sure to get into all of the little spaces because there are most likely going to be moth eggs absolutely everywhere.

PUT BAY LEAVES IN YOUR CUPBOARDS

Something that you can do in order to prevent the occurrence of another infestation in the future is place bay leave in the corners of all of your cupboards. A bay leaf is something that won’t affect the quality of your pantry food, but generations of use has shown it to be an effective way to keep the moths away.

KEEP YOUR FOOD STORED SAFELY

Once you have managed to clear the pantry of present moths, a good plan of action is to set up the space with lots of airtight vacuum containers. Having a system like this is much more protective than leaving food items in fragile and open packaging. It keeps everything much safer from a future attack.
